Why do we need stories? How do they represent relations, time and identity? How might they shape our lives? How do we study fiction? This course will examine several facets of fiction written in the English language. Through selected excerpts, it will address key questions such as literary genre, the borders of a narrative, the role of rhetoric and that of the narrator as well topics such as truth or interpretation.
Selected excerpts and a comprehensive bibliography will be provided in class to support your learning and research.
